Trigger
points are painful areas of where muscle has become taut commonly these
are referred to as “knots” because that’s what it feels like when
touched. When pressed these cause painful symptoms and often radiate to
other areas of the body.
Treatment of trigger points is done by applying pressure with the fingers to specific points on the body which relieves the symptoms.
Acupressure is identical in application but has a different theory. By stimulating acupressure points the bodies natural healing response is activated encouraging healing to take place. This has been used in China and Japan for thousands of years to treat many conditions.
